TMNT Birthday Card

I have been working on my daughter’s birthday card off and on all week.   I have came to a conclusion, it’s not easy making a girly teenage mutant ninja turtles card.  But thanks to some glitter paper, I think I have pulled it off.

First I found a image and colored it with my spectrum noir markers.   Then I took a couple days to think of what to do with it.   I decided to put the image on a sewer cover, so I made one of these with my silhouette.   I put a silver glitter cardstock background on the cover and added some green gems.   I then added some superhero saying stickers (too bad I didn’t have any kowabunga) onto some scored green glitter cardstock,  then added the cover

I added some more superhero saying stickers to the inside with a sentiment and a few flowers.

I think she will love it!

Party Invitations

My little girl is turning eight years old!  I’m trying to plan for her upcoming party, we will be having a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles party.  Of course we have to have pizza, which turned out to be my inspiration for the invitations!  🙂

Wouldn’t it be cool if the invitations were like little pizza boxes?   I thought so…

See that turtle image on top, that took me an hour and a half to color each one…

So the inside would need the information for the party.   And what is a pizza box without a pizza?

Let’s party!  Those green lines aren’t really on the invitations just covering private information.  My total coloring for all parts and invitations is roughly 20 hours.  But she loves them!    🙂

What do you think?

Country wedding

Today my brother is getting married.  They are having a country wedding, this is the card I made them.  I seen a stamp (not sure where) that had all these sayings put together to look like a cake.  But I thought it would be great to have something similar as a silhouette file.  So I typed out all of the sayings and resized and spaced and grouped them together until I finally came up with this.    I was originally going to just cut it out square with a purple square mat behind it but I liked it trimmed in the shape better.   To make it more country I added some burlap and the top of the cake needed something so I tied some rings together with some twine.

For the inside I wanted to add some purple also, only problem is I forgot I was going with a square card and cut this the size I would my normal cards.  But it’s just for my brother so I’m not too worried about it.   🙂

Share Sunday

I have had some new followers this week so first I would like to thank them. I really appreciate you taking the time to read my post.

The first person I would like to introduce you all to is upcycle mom. Her talent for turning old things into new creative things is great. She has a lot of beautiful things on her blog, here, that shows how talented she is

My daughter has started taking interest in the clay sculpting, I showed her some of this ladies work, here, and she loved it. She is very impressive. I can spend hours working on one card but I don’t think I would enjoy spending that much time on clay, funny how our minds are.

If you ever need an idea on a card layout then you should check out this blog. He has some fantastic cards and impressive layouts.

Here are some newbies I followed this week:

I fell in love with a pillow here and had to follow her.
I found some cute cards here.
I had someone give me some of the fireworks spray but didn’t have any idea what to do with it but I love this card here.

I mentioned this person last week but she has made some amazing stuff this week so you should check them out here.

Okay I think that should give you some good reading for today. I have to get ready for my nieces graduation ceremony.  🙂   Have a good day everyone!!

School’s out for summer

I have 5 nephews and 3 nieces, they are all teenagers now and they are all pretty good kids.  My nephews aren’t too much on cards so I save making theirs for birthdays and special occasion/accomplishments.  My nieces like getting mail and appreciate the cards I make them.  They are all super busy since becoming young adults, and I don’t get to see them as much as I want.

Since I made, we’ll call her H, a graduation card and gift I thought I needed to do something for the other two; we will call them M and K.  M just finished her freshman year of high school and K just finished her last year of middle school.  Good enough reasons to make them a card, and to let them know I miss them and love them.

While both girls are like all the typical girl things they are also have unique personalities.  K is laid back and loves being outdoors.  My brother and her mom are now divorced and I don’t see her as much as want.  She spends her summers hanging out with her friends and family, fishing, hiking, and she loves music and camping.  So when I came across this digi stamp I knew it was perfect for the card I wanted to make her…

I was wanting it to seem as if the boombox was playing the “schools out for summer” but I think I made my boombox too big.  And I thought I had some music notes but of course I couldn’t find them.  I just love how you can never find what you need.  I think she will like it though.

M likes being outdoors too, she is very busy playing sports all year long.  I don’t get to see her as often I as I would like either with her sports schedules.  She loves all sports, she plays volleyball and basketball for her school during the year.  In the summer you can find her on the baseball field, and I have to say she is always one of the best players on her team.  She is very competitive, and she can run faster than anyone I have seen.  So when I seen this digi stamp it was perfect!

I hope that K and M like these cards and that H likes her graduation gift and card.

Graduation gift

I am working on two cards that I had planned to finish up tonight and post about them.  But my baby isn’t feeling well and won’t let me do anything tonight, so we are snuggling watching Dora the explorer.   Luckily I took photos of what I worked on last night when the kids went to bed.

My beautiful niece will be graduating from high school on Sunday.   I will be making her another card and giving her money when she has her party in a few weeks,  but wanted to give her something for her day.

I came across a quote from Audrey Hepburn that I thought was great for a young adult entering the “real world”.  I wanted her to see it every day to encourage her, while browsing Pinterest I came across a pin where someone had used the exact quote on a mirror.  It was like a light bulb went off in my mind…

I apologize for the reflection of my ugly ceiling fan.  I hope she likes it.  I’m debating whether I should do some distressing to the frame…?…

I also made this card for her, I will make her more of a graduation one for her party…

Saturday 5/31

I bought my Spectrum Noir markers months ago but I have been really intimidated by them. I still have my high school art teacher saying I have no artistic ability in my ear when I would look at them. The past week I have been studying shading techniques and combos. I also downloaded some awesome digi stamps by an amazing artist here and today I have been playing around with them. So while this isn’t one of my best cards, it is my first attempt at coloring in the stamp with my markers and I don’t think it turned out too bad.

This bright eyed cutie reminded me of one of my nieces so that was my inspiration while coloring her.
